KS2 General Maths and Literacy and gentle preparation and practice for 11 plus

KS2 General Maths and Literacy Session

This session is designed to enhance the skills of students in Key Stage 2 (KS2) through engaging activities in both maths and literacy. Additionally, we will incorporate some gentle practice for the 11 Plus examination to help prepare students for future academic challenges.

Session Objectives

• Improve mathematical problem-solving skills.

• Enhance reading comprehension and writing abilities.

• Introduce basic concepts and questions similar to the 11 Plus exam (VR and NVR papers too)

Maths Activities

• Number games focusing on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

• Word problems that encourage critical thinking.

• Interactive activities using manipulatives to visualize mathematical concepts.

Literacy Activities

• Reading comprehension exercises with age-appropriate texts.

• Creative writing prompts to inspire their imagination.

• Spelling and grammar games to reinforce language skills.

11 Plus Practice

• Sample questions in English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

• Short exercises to develop logical thinking and problem-solving.

• Tips and strategies for approaching 11 Plus exam style questions.

By the end of the session, students will have gained valuable skills in both maths and literacy, along with a better understanding of the 11 Plus format, setting a strong foundation for their future studies.
